What I’m Reading — February

It’s time for another What I’m Reading post! :D (I find it strange that I posted the January edition on Jan. 23, and this one on Feb. 23 . . .)

Pegasus: Flame of Olympus by Kate O’Hearn — reading.

I’ve had my eye on this series for a while. It sounds similar to Percy Jackson. My mom bought it for me as a reward for meeting my wordcount goal during NaNoWriMo 2015.

The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, book two: The Hidden Gallery by Maryrose Wood — read.

I read the first Incorrigible book back in January, loved it, and decided to get out the next two books in the series. In The Hidden Gallery, Alexander, Beowulf, Cassiopeia and their governess visit London. It was funny and suspenseful at times, and piled on more mystery.

The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, book three: The Unseen Guest by Maryrose Wood — TBR.

Synopsis:

Since returning from London, the Incorrigible children and their plucky governess, Miss Penelope Lumley, have been exceedingly busy. Despite their wolfish upbringing, the children have taken to bird-watching, with no unfortunate consequences — yet. And a perplexing gift raises hard questions about how Penelope came to be left at the Swanburne Academy for Poor Bright Females and why her parents never bothered to return for her.

But hers is not the only family mystery to solve. When Lord Fredrick’s long-absent mother arrives with the noted explorer Admiral Faucet, gruesome secrets tumble out of the Ashton family tree. And when the admiral’s prized racing ostrich gets loose in the forest, it will take all the Incorrigibles’ skills to find her.

The hunt for the runaway ostrich is on. But Penelope is worried. Once back in the wild, will the children forget about books and poetry and go back to their howling, wolfish ways? What if they never want to come back to Ashton Place at all?

Writer to Writer: From Think to Ink by Gail Carson Levine — read.

This how-to writing book is by Gail Carson Levine, the author of the fantasy novel Ella Enchanted. It has chapters about plotting, character development, etc. It’s quite helpful and informative. And I just love the cover! It’s super pretty, and grabbed my attention.

Walk Two Moons by Shannon Creech — TBR.

It’s a Newberry book, so we all know that it’s going to be weird, right? I’ve wanted to read the book for quite some time, but, although my library had it, it was never on the shelf. Thankfully, my mom managed to put it on hold, and now I can finally read it! *evil laugh*

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Other Classic Works by Lewis Carroll — TBR.

Kelsie, one of my best friends, picked this book up for me. It’s a collection of most (or all, I’m not exactly sure) of Lewis Carroll’s stories, including Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, Sylvie and Bruno, Sylvie and Bruno Concluded, The Hunting of the Snark, and Phantasmagoria.
