The Christmas Challenge — Day One

December/Christmas blogging challenge

{Image belongs to Kathryn}

I’m doing a Christmas blogging challenge, made by the fabulous Kathryn from In the Depths of Dreams. The first challenge is “Favorite Christmas tradition.”

Er . . . “tradition” as in one? Let me change that . . .

Favorite Christmas traditions

Much better. Now it’s plural. :)

Secret Santa.  I did a Secret Santa gift exchange with my American Heritage Girl troop last year (it was my idea). I drew the name of one of my best friends, Issy, which was cool.

White Elephant Gift Exchange. I played this once upon a time with my IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) class, it was a lot of fun. :)

Decorating the tree. I absolutely LOVE decorating my Christmas tree! Unfortunately, most of my family is allergic to Christmas trees, so all we have is a plastic one — and I’m taller than it. :/ It’s still fun to turn on the Christmas lights after I’m done decorating so I can see the embellished tree glow!

Operation Christmas Child. It’s so much fun to pack shoe boxes for children in need! I did OCC this year — the shoe box was for a young boy. I put a notebook, a dog stuffed animal, a pack of playing cards, a football, and some other cool stuff in it.

Gingerbread houses. I decorate gingerbread houses with my Nana and Pop-Pop  almost every year!

That’s all I’ve got for today. Have a great December, guys — it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

P.S. What do you think of my new winter-themed sign off?

I’m going to do a writing contest in the near future! :D

Love your list! I always feel bad for the people that have never had a real christmas tree. You don’t get the smell, and without the smell I don’t think I would feel like it’s Christmas. But I can’t wait to see your posts because of this challenge, it looks so much fun :). And I LOVE your sign off :).

      Thanks, Hayley!

I know, I feel bad for myself. But at least there’s a line of pine trees behind my house, so I can smell them. :)

I think this challenge is going to be fun, too. Thanks again!

Yay! It’s the holiday season! Your new sign off is so pretty! And that’s too bad that you can’t have a real Christmas tree. :/ But like you said, you can still smell the pine trees! :P And I’m sure a plastic tree is just as pretty as a real one after it’s decorated & lit.
    Woohoo for another writing contest!

Wow! That is a whole lot of shoe boxes! The most my family has ever packed is two. I’m sure a lot of kids all over the world are going to appreciate your gifts.

      Thank you!

YOUR FAMILY IS ALLERGIC TO CHRISTMAS TREES?! How do you survive? :P I think I might do a post about decorating our tree because that is also one of my favorite Christmas traditions. White Elephant sounds really neat; I would like to try it sometime. Wait it suddenly started snowing on your blog! OK, sorry. Anyway, looking forward to reading more from this blogging challenge! P. S. I like the snow – how did you get that to happen?

Oh, I know, poor me. But I’ve gotten used to it.

Yep! Do you like the snow? You can add it to your blog by going to the dashboard, then Settings, and going to General. The snow button is right at the top. :)

Thanks for the tip about the snow, Loren, but actually Megan just told me how to. I love “bloggy snow!” I redid my background for Christmas too.

Fun!! :D I did OCC this year and I packed a box for a girl. I put in crayons, notebook, stuffed animal, hygiene products, and a lot of other stuff. Took a long time to stuff it into a shoebox. The snow is so cool!! You do IEW me too. My co-op teaches it. I also may be doing a White Elephant with my AHG troop!! :D
    Merry Christmas <3
