what is your favorite tree?

weeping cherries! when i was younger, my brother and i took swimming lessons at a college pool. there was a lovely weeping cherry outside the building, and i remember dancing under it while the petals tumbled down and caught in my wet hair.

i also like pines and weeping willows.

watercolor or color pencils?

i use both, but i prefer colored pencils. i have a much wider range of colors, and they’re easier to control.

three favorite christmas movies?

the nightmare before christmas. i love that one so much. but i never know if i should watch it on halloween or christmas, so i do both. that’s really the only christmas movie i like. all the others that i’ve seen are too cheesy.

have you finished courageous hearts?

ugh, i have not. i haven’t been able to work on it at all since nano 2016, because the laptop broke.

favorite youtuber?

the only youtuber i really watch is dodie clark (her channels are doddlevloggle and doddleoddle). she’s lovely and funny and has an amazing style, and i like her music. i’m also subscribed to kati morton, she makes mental health/psychology videos. and sometimes i watch good mythical morning, peanutbuttergamer, and game theory with my brother.

fuzzy socks or fleece blanket?

i like wrapping myself up in a blanket and becoming a blanket burrito.

do you like white chocolate?

i used to like white chocolate, but then everyone told me that it was gross and fake chocolate, so i stopped eating it. thanks, society.

what is your favorite baskin robbins ice cream flavor?

i’ve never been to baskin robbins. so there you go.

do you have any plans for this summer?

since summer is over, i’ll just list some of the things i did.

i went to a co-op picnic that was sort of a last hurrah for my class, my friends convinced me to go to a field day with them, i explored a swimming hole, went to emerald isle on vacation, ran a 5k, went to summer camp, celebrated b‘s birthday, and went to the fair.

would you rather be a unicorn or a mermaid?

i’ve always had a love for mermaids that i haven’t really grow out of. i have a mermaid tail and mermaid-length hair (aka long enough that i wouldn’t have to wear a top). so definitely a mermaid (although my nickname was unicorn at one point. thanks, k.).

do you like starbucks?

i’ve never actually had starbucks, so i don’t think i can answer this. i’m not really a fan of coffee, anyway. but i guess they put so much other stuff in that it doesn’t really taste like coffee anymore.

what animal would be cutest if scaled down to the size of a cat?

DRAGON DRAGON DRAGON.

can you imagine having a tiny dragon? it would sleep in your lap and light candles for you and you could put a leash on it and take it on walks! T I N Y  D R A G O N S, GUYS.

what weird food combinations do you really enjoy?

i will eat peanut butter on pretty much anything. cornbread? check. cookies? check. ice cream? check. just give me something with peanut butter on it and i’ll probably like it.

what food is delicious but a pain to eat?

 i have braces, so everything is kind of a pain to eat. food gets stuck in my braces and chewing hurts like heck if the bands have been tightened. r.i.p. loren.

what was the last photo you took?

this one. it’s from the veteran’s day parade my ahg troop was in. izzy and i were in the front, and we carried a banner that said “home of the free, because of the brave.” random people watching the parade kept telling us to smile so we’d be prettier. that was strange.

what is the most amazing slow motion video you’ve seen?

idk, pal, i don’t remember every slow-mo video i’ve watched in my life.

where are some unusual places you’ve been?

☼ longwood gardens. when i was in pennsylvania this spring, my mom and i visited an enormous garden that had lakes, a meadow, bizarre and amazing tree houses, etc.

☼ the rock-throwing range. at camp, there’s a dilapidated area beside the main road. there are thick poles stuck into the ground, with sheets of metal attached to them. there’s a mound of gravel in front of the poles, which you can use as ammunition. the rock-throwing range feels slightly disconnected from the rest of the world, especially when it’s dusk and all you can hear is the ping of rock against metal and muttered expletives when you miss.

 ☼ a cafe downtown. i’ve always been fascinated by it. i’ve never actually been inside, though. it has vibrant, picasso-style murals all over the walls.

☼ sunflower field. not too far from my house is a huge field. the owners plant sunflowers in it, so many sunflowers blooming and exuding joy that you feel as if you are in a van gogh painting. you’re allowed to walk through the field and pick flowers for a small fee, although i’ve never had a chance to do it.

☼ fairy stone state park. i went on vacation there one time. it seemed quite normal: trees, lake, critters, etc. the sort of things you would expect to find at any state park. but you can find tiny rocks there that are shaped like crosses. one day after it rained, we drove to a gas station and searched through the muddy bank of a stream. the fairy stones had been stirred to the surface by the runoff. the legend of the fairy stones is that an elven messenger came to the forest to tell the fairies there about the death of Christ. their tears, upon reaching the ground, morphed into beautiful stone crosses.

what’s your favorite season?

autumn! there are so many wonderful things about autumn, it’s almost not fair to the other seasons. the pretty colors, perfect temperature, halloween, apple cider, etc. and autumn brings soccer, my youth group’s weekend retreat, and nanowrimo.

favorite drawing instrument?

my mom has these super thin markers called staedtler pigment liners. i use them in most of my drawings, for outlining and writing.

what do you think of ag’s newest doll?

at this point, i don’t even know who the newest doll is.

favorite summer activities?

sitting in a spot of sunlight on the porch and drawing. making flower crowns. listening to albums on repeat, so that whenever i listen to them, i will be transported back to this summer. picking fruit and making smoothies out of it. stretching out in a patch of sun and reading.

what’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?

when i went to myrtle beach for the weekend to visit my mom’s best friend from high school. it took us around ten hours to get there because my mom got lost. what fun. :)

day or night?

nighttime, no doubt. music and books somehow mean more to me when it’s the middle of the night. you can actually hear yourself think in the darkness. and i enjoy going outside at night, because i can breathe and watch the stars. everything is calm and mysterious.

have you ever stayed up all night?

oh, yes, many times. i pulled about four all-nighters in july. the first time i ever stayed up all night, i think, was at an ahg lock-in at a climbing gym. izzy was there, and our friend emily from summer camp. we spent the night bouldering, eating pizza, and making up an insane story about bob the tiger, who married anias the unicorn.

how many books do you have? XD XD

you’re really going to make me count all of my books? what kind of twisted joke is this?

there are 103 books on the floor of my bedroom. i really need a bookshelf.

do you like tea?

yes, of course! i love having it on those gloomy days that drag on forever, or when i’m writing. my favorite kind that we have in the house is either english breakfast or peppermint.

about how much time do you spend on the computer every day?

at least twenty-seven hours a day.

favorite school subject?

i like astronomy, p.e. (my co-op’s p.e. was just running/playing soccer), and art.

have you ever picked up a frog? (or anything similar :p)

one time my brother’s dumb fish jumped out of the tank. he was freaking out too much to do anything, so i had to pick the fish up and toss it back in.

oh, and my first kiss was with a fish, so that’s pretty gross.

1) do you want a boyfriend/girlfriend?

not particularly. i’m sure having a partner is nice, but i don’t spend my time wishing i had one. i have friends who love me and that’s enough.

2) when did your last hug take place?

i think it was on sunday, i was trying to annoy n with my affection.

3) are you a jealous person?

sometimes. not in the “i wish i had her looks” kind of way, but “those people look like they really enjoy each others company. i wish i were that close with someone.”

4) are you tired right now?

when am i not tired?

5) do you chew your straws?

yep, always have. i don’t mean to do it. it’s just a habit, i guess. it bothers everyone i know.

6) have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?

i’m sure i have. i’m more likely to pull an all-nighter than to get a healthy amount of sleep.

7) do you cry easily?

heck yeah. but not because of things that are supposed to make me cry, usually, like getting hurt or watching a really sad movie. i cry when i’m mad and when i’m tired. or because someone said something nice to me or because the moon is pretty.

8) what should you be doing right now?

a science quiz that i was supposed to do last week. you know, i think i get the most done on my blog when i’m supposed to be doing schoolwork.

9) are you a heavy sleeper?

not really. one time i went to sleep with my earbuds in, and they fell out sometime during the night and got squished under me. they were still playing music softly and that’s what woke me up.

10) do you think you can last in a relationship for six months?

idk. if the person actually enjoys being around me, probably. i’ll update you on this if i ever date someone.

11) are you mad at someone right now?

myself, because i’m bad at painting my nails. my friend izzy, because a few weeks ago she said that my cookies looked gross. my mom, because she thinks public school is a lovely environment. the whole world in general, because i have anger issues.

12) do you believe in love?

yeah. i think platonic love is more important most of the time, but romantic love is nice, too, and definitely real.

13) what makes you laugh no matter what?

bad puns.

14) who was the last person you talked to?

my mom. she was calling me a smartaleck.

15) do you get butterflies around the person you like?

idk. sometimes my right leg will shake, but that’s not the same thing as butterflies.

16) will you get married?

i hope so. i’m don’t daydream about it, but i would like to get married at some point.

17) when was the last time you smiled?

when i was at the mall this afternoon with my mom. we were looking for pins and patches for my jacket and she found one with a three-eyed cat and the words “not normal.”

yep, and i like him, too.

it’s not much of a secret anymore.

20) who was the first person you talked to today?

mum. i think she was asking if i’d finished my homework.

21) who do you feel most comfortable talking to about anything?

my friend n is pretty nonjudgmental.

22) what are you not looking forward to?

getting my braces off. i got a bracket replaced yesterday, and to get the old one off, the orthodontist used pliers to rip it out and then scraped the glue off my tooth. it hurt a lot.

23) what are you looking forward to?

halloween! my brother and i are going to be dressed as dipper and mabel pines from gravity falls.

24) has anyone of the opposite sex ever told you they loved you, and meant it?

i hope he meant it.

25) suppose you see your ex kissing another person. what would you do?

1) i don’t have an ex. 2) if i did, who they’re kissing wouldn’t be any of my business.

26) do you plan on moving out within the next year?

nah, i’ll still be a minor. but i’m going to move out as soon as i can. just a few more years to go.

27) are you a forgiving person?

depends on what you mean to me. my friends could hurt me and i’d be the one saying sorry. but if it’s someone i don’t like, they could simply touch my arm and i’d hold a grudge against them for years.

28) how many true friends do you have?

four. that’s enough for me.

29) do you fall for people easily?

nope. i know people who have a new crush weekly, but you’ve got to be someone really amazing that i’ve known for awhile before i could fall for you.

30) have you ever fallen for your ex’s best friend? 

still don’t have an ex. and definitely not.

31) what’s the last thing you put in your mouth?

toothbrush.

32) who was the last person you drove with?

mum. we were going to an ahg meeting.

33) how late did you stay up last night and why? 

12:30-ish, i think? maybe later? and it’s because i’m an insomniac. (although i took some sleep medication and that’s why i fell asleep at midnight instead of 3 a.m.)

i’m thinking about changing my theme. i’ve had this one since i started my blog. i found a theme that i like (suits), and i’m playing around with headers right now. i don’t know for sure that i’m going to change the theme, and if i do, i might change it back after awhile. but i really like the way suits looks.

what’s your favorite book in the kotlc series?

i really love the first book, because it set up the entire world of the elves. but keefe’s character got so much more depth to it in lodestar . . . so idk, one of those, probably.

have you finished writing shadow bird?

i have not, and that really shouldn’t be much of a surprise. when i think about that story, i realize how illogical and confusing it is, and how messy the plot is. it would take a lot of work and rewriting to make it ok, and i’d rather just focus on a new story than try to fix it right now.

what’s your favorite movie?

i don’t think i really have a single favorite, but school of rock and the princess bride are ones i can watch over and over again without getting bored.

if you were an emoji, which one would it be?

do you enjoy laughing?

i guess? i like when my friends and i are laughing so hard about something dumb that we’re physically in pain — because we’re laughing so much, and because we tend to slap each other a a lot when we’re excited.

what is your dream job?

my ideal job would be a travel blogger. i’d get to travel all over the place, and tell you guys about my adventures! that sounds pretty good to me. :) if that’s not possible, something creative. and i would love to be a summer camp counselor.

favorite texture?

i really like the feeling of skin! that sounds really creepy, please don’t call the cops. what i mean is, i like holding hands, because you can feel all the creases and bones and calluses and it feels different and unique from person to person.

i don’t want anything from ag at the moment, actually. i’m not into that as much as i used to be.

definitely my mom. i’m homeschooled, so we’re together most of the time. it gets kind of annoying.

would you rather always be fifteen minutes early or always be five minutes late?

i’d rather be early, i think. that would give me some time alone before i would have to be with people. i absolutely hate being late, because everyone stops and stares at me when i arrive.

do you prefer pencils or pens?

pencils, i guess. pens aren’t very good to draw with, because you can’t erase the lines.

what are some of your blogging goals?

the only one i can think of at the moment is that i want to comment on other people’s blogs more often. you guys post amazing content and i want to do more than just like your stuff. i think i’ve been doing a slightly better job of that recently. maybe some of you have seen me popping up in the comments more.

what are three movies that make you cry?

let’s see . . . i cried during beauty and the beast, during doctor strange (that was from laughter, though. i couldn’t take it seriously, because my mind was going “bendynoodle cucumberpatch!!” the whole time), and during how to train your dragon 2.

have you ever dyed your hair? if so what color? if not, what color would you?

remember a couple summers back, when everyone was dip dyeing their hair with kool-aid? i did that as part of my evil queen costume for a play i was in. it was supposed to turn out purple, but it ended up just being red. i recall freaking out in the shower because i thought i was bleeding, bu it was actually just the kool-aid washing out of my hair.

my friend has told me i would look good with black hair with blue tips. i think silver or any pastel color would be cool.

favorite mathematical concept?

calculating how quickly i can close the math book when i’m finished with my lesson.

pool or lake?

once upon a time, when i was at ahg summer camp, i was swimming in the lake with izzy. the counselors told us that the fish in the lake wouldn’t bite us. well, what do you know, they were wrong. a fish came up and bit me on the butt. that was an e x p e r i e n c e, let me tell you. so i prefer the pool, because there are no fish, and my mermaid tail can be better appreciated. :)

camp half-blood cabin?

i’m in the apollo cabin! i’m actually quite happy about that. it’s the cabin of music and poetry and archery and healing, and i like all of those things, so it’s a good fit.

would you rather be hot or cold?

hmm, let’s see. i get cold a lot and it’s not much fun. yeah, i can put on socks and a sweatshirt and become a blanket burrito, but it doesn’t always help. and if i’m hot (sometimes i’ll get extremely feverish for no reason), i can take a cold shower until i stop shaking and feeling like i’ll faint. i don’t like either of them, though. so i choose death instead.

what animals do you have right now?

a chance to talk about my cute animal friends? yay! i have navi, my fluffy lil baby cat. she’ll be turning one this summer. and then there’s boo, who is gorgeous, but bitter and evil. then there’s all the fish and frogs in the pond, and a bunch of chickens, and i think that’s all.

what’s your favorite candy?

i would say skittles, but my friend would kill me, so i’ll go with yorks instead. i just freaking love mints, man.

chocolate or vanilla?

for ice cream flavors? neither. i think they’re both pretty gross on their own. but they’re ok if you eat something with them, like peanut butter or crushed cookies.

what’s your favorite kind of pie, and with ice cream or no?

key lime pie and cherry pie are the best ones, we shouldn’t even be debating this. and i think ice cream on pie is rather weird. it’ll make the pie soggy and that’s just a sin.

what is your opinion on glitter pens?

i used to have this huge, incredible collection of glitter pens and i loved them. they’re fancy and dramatic and i wish i still had some.

short skirts or long skirts?

i don’t like skirts at all, actually, and i don’t think i own any at the moment. they make me feel uncomfortable and like i wouldn’t be able to escape from danger as easily. but if i had to wear a skirt, it would be a short one. they look better to me.

what color is the hand towel in your bathroom?

it’s white. yep, my family is very basic. XD

what’s a goal that you have as of right now?

i want to start writing again! i don’t think i’ve really worked on a story since nanowrimo (i’m using our laptop breaking as an excuse). some writer i am, huh? i just got an idea for a new story that i’m excited to work on. :)

where would you bury hidden treasure if you had some?

in a graveyard, duh. who would want to dig around in there? yeah, you might find my treasure, but you’ll probably also uncover a dead guy.

are you looking forward to learning how to drive?

idk man, not really. i would probably get in trouble for driving away without telling anyone where i was going. but it would mean i could go to pretty locations and draw and write and take pictures there . . . so i guess i’m a little excited, but i’m not dying to get my license.

strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

i ate a leaf one time. there were a bunch of crunchy ones on my friend’s trampoline, so i just grabbed one and chewed it up. it was kind of like a chewy potato chip.

last time you wrote a letter to someone?

it was about two weeks ago, probably, to a lovely girl named ada. i’ve never met her, but i’ve been told by people who know her that we’re nearly the same person, and i would love to meet her someday.

what’s your favorite book?

i’m not sure if it’s my favorite book, but a year without autumn by liz kessler is incredible. the story has stuck with me for a long time. you should definitely read that if you haven’t already.

what’s your favorite song?

i really can’t choose, i listen to too much music to have a favorite song. i don’t think i could say it’s my absolute favorite, but glowing eyes by twenty one pilots is pretty great.

do you like hamilton? have you even listened to it? (i doubt it.)

i’ve only listened to a few songs from it, so i don’t have much of an opinion (don’t kill me, kathleen! i love you.).

what’s the last book you read?

the hollow boy by jonathan stroud, i believe. it was so freaking amazing, and i love the characters and the ghosts and the humor and everything about it!!

what are you reading right now?

the mysterious benedict society and the perilous journey by trenton lee stewart. i’m only a few chapters in, so i don’t have much to say about it. but the first book in the series was quite good, and i love how quirky the characters are.

what do you want to be when you grow up?

i’d like to be one of those “light” people:

i really like chinese food. :D i’ll eat pretty much any chinese food, as long as there’s no seafood in it.

i’m going to go with keefe. he’s an empath, kind of angry and confused and lost, uses humor to hide how hurt he is, and he’s incredibly sarcastic, and i relate to that a lot.

i’ve always shipped sophie and dex (to those who like sophitz: you disgust me), but sophie and keefe is a nice ship, too.

yes! too much, probably. i always wear them inside out. and i sleep in socks most of the time. i don’t have many cute socks (someone please buy me some of those pretty socks you see on tumblr), though, so i draw on them with sharpies. :)

i’ve never had an unusual love for rainbows, but then i saw an edit with a pastel rainbow. look at how pretty it is!! (◠‿◠✿)

do you still read picture books occasionally? i do.

sometimes, yeah. my favorite one is at my church, it’s called build a burrito, i think. the guys in youth group would beg my brother to read it. he would settle himself into this rocking chair while the guys sat eagerly around his feet. the book is in spanish and english, and every time my brother reached the part that says “three spoonfuls of beans/tres cucharadas de frijoles,” everyone would flip out and shout, “FRIJOLES!!!.” ah, good memories. XD

do you ever write anything besides blog posts?

yep! i like writing fiction. i haven’t been doing that as much as i would like, though. you can read some of my old and cringey stuff by clicking the stories page.

what’s your advice for someone starting a personal blog?

make friends with other bloggers! you won’t get many comments or followers if you’re not interacting with other lovely people in the blogging community. as well as getting more activity on your site, you could make some pretty great friends. :)

1. she makes a big deal out of e v e r y t h i n g, and i actually love it a lot. it’s quite entertaining. 2. we sobbed together in the movie theater during beauty and the beast. 3. i’m not too fond of her sort-of-boyfriend, so he gets to be the ugly prom date. :) 4. she always manages to be optimistic, and it’s made me feel better so many times!! 5. she gets so impatient and excited and it’s  a d o r a b l e.

b/den mother:

have kids first? sing in the shower? fall in love? take more selfies? have the most piercings?

1. she plans on having “at least thirteen kids.” 2. she has a lovely voice! i’m sure she sings to herself everywhere, and definitely in the shower. 3. yiKES. she gets crushes a lot, actually. 4. my girl b posts lots of selfies, and they’re all really pretty. (^.^) 5. a bellybutton piercing would actually look really cool on her. get one, b.

1. loren?? the girl who’s never had a date mate or even kissed someone?? a flirt??? well, kids, you learn something new everyday. i flirt with pup 24/7, and sometimes with other people without meaning to. i don’t actually want to date any of them, it’s just sometimes, when i’m tired and/or high on friendship, i’ll randomly start flirting with everyone. 2. what can i say, i’m a clumsy duckling. 3.i’ve dropped my ipod so so so many times. it’s a miracle i haven’t cracked the screen yet. 4. anxiety is my best friend tbh. 5. i’m sure i have at least one person stalking me and blog. hello, stalker! love you, too. ;)

1. he’s the best at everything, so it would make sense. 2. he’s a huge nerd, holy crap. great at math and logic and all that stuff. 3. he’s probably going to be a famous athlete and have a gorgeous wife and tons of dogs (dogs = success.) 4. he’s a mama’s boy and it’s hilarious.

1. alright, kiddos, let me tell you about hojo. all the moms at co-op talk about how handsome and polite and smart he is, blah blah blah. he goes to mexico a lot to volunteer at an orphanage, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he gave all his money to it. 2. he’s a nerd and it’s great. he would talk to me about pokemon and the legend of zelda during art class. i’m quite sure that he likes star wars. 3. nerd? favorite among the moms? sideburns? tell me with a straight face that he doesn’t like classical music.

megan:

1. megan is a lovely person with lots of cute animal friends!! i’m sure she’ll figure out how to communicate with her bunnies someday. 2. she’s so nice and beautiful and interesting, and i’m sure a kind guy will fall in love with her sooner or later. 3. she’s an incredible baker, holy crap.

1. one time he asked me not to write fanfiction about joward (jish + hojo). how dumb of a question is that?? 2. we got three pizzas on the last day of co-op, and he ate nearly the entire pepperoni one by himself.

1. pup is going to be a famous dancer, and he’ll marry her and they’ll be cute and athletic together and it’ll be great. :D 2. i think he might have fallen asleep once or twice during nature study class. what a loser. 3. i think he’s in pup la la land 24/7. he’ll likely forget their wedding anniversary. 4. this guy has huge arm muscles, it’s not fair at all. he could kill someone by hugging them.

1. he would probably laugh when someone told them their mom had died. he’s mean. 2. i’m not sure he’s capable of loving someone. so he would only marry for money. 3. all of his thoughts are dumb to some degree. anything he would want to buy would have to be dumb, too. 4. he’s so so dumb. he would jump out of a plane without a parachute and create a makeshift one with all of his flannel.

hello, my flower children! i hope all is well.

i was very bored today. that led to playing video games with my brother, making him listen to panic! at the disco, and doing lots of pushups (aka no more than ten). oh, and i also took those math tests today. there were two of them — only one was timed. i think i did ok, but i’m really not sure. my mind started blanking about halfway through and i just guessed on some of them. oh well.

as i was saying, i’m bored. so! i’m doing a q&a. :D
